Keep Stumptown Savings on the Job for Portland Shoppers In 2026
I'm Bryan M. Vance, the founder, publisher, and sole employee of Stumptown Savings. After being laid off from my journalism job in April 2025, I launched Stumptown Savings with a simple mission: help Portlanders shop smarter.
Each week, I curate grocery deals, track prices, highlight how your neighbors are balancing grocery budgets with cooking and eating out, profile the organizations and farms helping feed our community, and more.
I believe in this work, and I’m committed to keeping it 100% independent. No store can ever pay for inclusion. My only allegiance is to you.
The Cost of Doing Business
In the spirit of transparency, here is what it costs to run Stumptown Savings:
- $630+ per month in hard costs (web hosting, email platforms, marketing tools, and processing fees).
- $0 per month in labor costs.
To date, I have not paid myself for any of my work. All income has been reinvested in the business. To continue this work full-time in 2026, the business needs to build a sustainable foundation. That's where this End of Year campaign comes in.
Our Goal: Raise $8,000 by Dec. 31, 2025
Reaching this goal bridges the gap. It provides the essential runway to make Stumptown Savings sustainable into 2026, ensuring the newsletter continues to arrive in your inbox, uninterrupted.
